Autumn rolled in at 7:49 a.m. Saturday under mostly clear skies, with Vancouver pretty close to 50 degrees. The outlying areas dipped into the 40s. It was a picture-perfect change of seasons here in the Pacific Northwest.
I expect dry weather all week before possibly a change next weekend. A cold front is scheduled to roll over us, with enough strength for some light rain but that may fizzle like all of its predecessors this month.
Meanwhile, enjoy highs in the 70s with varying degrees of morning clouds and sunshine.
Did you notice how heavy the air felt Thursday? It was cloudy all day except for a peek of the sun at sunset. There was no wind and I felt rather odd as if an earthquake or something was coming. But my two pups remained calm.
Congratulations to Tyler Mode of Battle Ground, a faithful weather observer for this column for many years. He won first place in a Weatherwise magazine contest with a picture of lenticular clouds over Mt. Rainier, taken a year ago on a hike at Washington’s highest peak.
