Take the family to the farm with the annual Harvest Fun Day. Clark County Historical Museum and the 78th Street Heritage Farm give families the chance to have free seasonal fun. Visitors can create their own scarecrow, compete in pie-eating and corn-shucking contests, and enjoy live music, farming demonstrations and even learn to square dance.

2. Enjoy a classic serenade
With members from as far away as Wyoming, Chor Anno, an ensemble of 27 regional choral singers, will present “The Solace of the Song” concert Sept. 23. Led by Howard Meharg, the concert will include guest conductors Dr. Joan Conlon, Dr. Paul Klemme, and Dr. Nicole Lamartine, along with traditional songs from Italy, Scotland and the British Isles. The group’s name means “annual choir” in Latin, as many of the ensemble members are choral directors, composers and teachers.

3. Recycle skills from the pioneers
At Venersborg Homestead Days, visitors can learn traditional skills used by the first settlers in the area at the Venersborg School House. Activities include leather-working with a stitching horse, creating homemade laundry detergent, making butter the easy way, food preservation classes for adults and kids alike, and raising heirloom hens.
