Shawn Perkins’ Monarchs handled Prairie in nonleague game at Longview Memorial Stadium to improve to 3-1 on the brink of league play, and deliver to their head coach his 52nd career victory.

That nudged Perkins past Del Talley as the winningest coach in school history.

“I’ve had lots of great kids, lots of great coaches, lots of great families,” said Perkins. “I’ve been lucky to have kids believing in what we do.”

Keigan Baker had 122 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Austin Johnson added 81 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Ryan Littlefield chipped in 70 yards and a score as the Monarchs methodically built a 21-0 lead.
