Talking Points: More NASCAR for thought

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

A couple days ago, Talking Points put out a plan to help NASCAR attract more viewers during its “playoffs,” The Chase.

Hard-core NASCAR fans scoffed at the notion.

The point, though, was to attract more viewers. The hard-core fans will always be there.

With attendance down at most tracks in recent years — more due to the economy than the popularity of the sport — NASCAR would be wise to find a wider TV audience.

Since that Talking Point, the ratings have been released from this past weekend’s race in Chicago.

It was the second-lowest rating of the season for NASCAR. That’s what happens when you go up against the NFL.

Few sports see their TV ratings take a dive in the playoffs. NASCAR’s season championship deserves a better TV spot.

Tuesday or Wednesday Night Racing would rule.

Hard-core fans would watch it whenever, but the sport would find a new audience with the change.

Well, for all of those people who hate the Dallas Cowboys, this will make your day.

A few years back, the Cowboys failed to buy the domain name for cowboys.com. It was some miscommunication that is really pointless to discuss here. The main thing is the Dallas Cowboys do not own cowboys.com

Now, if you are a fan of the Cowboys, you’ll have to type in dallascowboys.com.

However, if you are a fan of cowboys, you’re in luck. There is a new dating site for people looking to meet a cowboy, not a Cowboy, at cowboys.com.

Good luck ladies. And yes, gentleman, too.

How ’bout them cowboys now?

We just hope the Raiders always keep their domain name. We’d really hate to see the kind of clientele that would gravitate to a raiders.com dating site.
