Hazel Dell — On Sept. 11, Fire District 6 paid tribute to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives 11 years ago in the World Trade Center attacks in New York City. At Station 61, the flags were flown at half-staff. Firefighters and their guests observed a moment of silence after a flag salute. In honor of the fallen firefighters, 343 flags were placed in the shape of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in the lawn in front of Station 61.
