Starting Thursday, Sept. 20, all outdoor recreational fires will be banned at homes in Clark County, officials said.
The ban, meant to help protect “people, property and animals during the unusually dry conditions,” is in effect until further notice, Clark County Fire Marshal Jon Dunaway said in a press release.
“We have seen several grass and brush fires over the past several days that have demonstrated how volatile the outdoor fuels are at this point,” Dunaway said. “A two-acre grass fire threatened an apartment complex Tuesday, showing that this significant hazard can occur in suburban areas as well as forested parts of the county.”
The ban comes exactly a week after recreational fires were banned in Vancouver, Camas and Washougal.
