A man escaped arrest after a reported robbery attempt Sunday night in Hazel Dell.
The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. Sunday at the Walgreens store at 9812 N.E. Highway 99, said Sgt. Fred Neiman, Clark County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
According to Neiman, a man attempted to reach into an open cash drawer while the clerk was helping another customer. The clerk slammed the drawer shut before the man got any cash.
The suspect, described as a white male in his mid-20s, weighing about 150 pounds and wearing a red jacket and light-colored shorts, ran out of the store.
A police tracking dog was called to the scene but wasn’t able to find the suspect, Neiman said.
No one was injured and no weapon was displayed.
