CAMAS — Reilly Hennessey is sure now.
“I wasn’t nervous, but I was curious about how we were going to do this year,” the Camas quarterback said Friday night after another Papermakers victory at Doc Harris Stadium. “A young team, playing together. We’ve responded really well to everything that’s been thrown our way. I couldn’t be more happy.”
Not just with the way he is playing, but for all the Papermakers.
Hennessey completed 20 of 26 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns, the defense was dominating in the quarters that mattered, and there even was a special special teams play in Camas’ 45-14 victory over Auburn Mountainview.
All the big gains on offense, the stuffs on defense, and it’s quite possible the loudest cheer of the night came for Roldan Alcobendas. The Camas kicker drilled a 52-yard field goal in the second quarter, giving his team a 24-0 advantage.
“I actually didn’t see the kick,” Alcobenda said, adding that an Auburn Mountainview rusher tripped him up as soon as he kicked the ball. “I was on the ground. Once I heard the crowd, I said, ‘Yes! I made it.’ “
