Emergency crews battled a brush fire along Southeast Leadbetter Road in Camas on Thursday.

Firefighters from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department, East County Fire and Rescue and the Vancouver Fire Department were on the scene after the initial emergency call came in at approximately 11 a.m. The site of the 2-acre fire was adjacent to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife boat launch parking lot.

A portion of Leadbetter Road, which runs along the north side of Lacamas Lake, was blocked to through traffic.

The Camas-Washougal Wildlife League building, which is located on the opposite side of the WDFW gravel parking lot, was not threatened.

On Friday morning CWFD Chief Nick Swinhart said that although an exact cause hasn’t been determined, due to the fire’s location it was most likely caused by an individual discarding a smoldering or burning object.
