Shannon Boyle, Ridgefield volleyball
Ridgefield volleyball player Shannon Boyle was voted The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Boyle collected 34 percent of the 314 votes cast by fans to beat out Brynne Dykes of La Center girls soccer and Alexa Efraimson of Camas cross country. Both Dykes and Efraimson tied with 22 perceont.
Boyle had 16 kills, 3 digs and ace in the Spudders’ win over Hudson Bay and helped Ridgefield capture the title at the Hillsboro Spartan Invitational.
Other nominees included Union golfer Eddie Abellar and Battle Ground boys cross country runner Mark Tedder.
Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s blog at www.360preps.com on Monday. Voting starts shortly thereafter at www.facebook.com/360preps and continues until Thursday evening.
