Portland Trail Blazers guard Elliot Williams will require surgery after suffering a torn left Achilles tendon Tuesday during voluntary workouts at the team’s practice facility.

Williams, 23, has averaged 3.7 points and 6.2 minutes in 24 career games.

He played his final game last season on March 7 due to a left shoulder injury suffered during practice that required surgery on March 30. He missed the 2010-11 season due to surgeries on both knees.
