A 3-year-old boy was sent to a local hospital Sunday night with a possible broken leg after falling out of a third-story window, officials said.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Sunday at the Silver Oak Apartments, 8701 N.E. 54th St. near Westfield Vancouver mall, said Capt. Scott Willis, a Vancouver Fire Department spokesman.

The boy was apparently leaning against the screen of a third-story window and fell through, Willis said. He landed in bushes and bark dust. He was conscious and crying when firefighters arrived, Willis said.

He was taken to a local hospital with a possible broken femur. He had no other obvious injuries, Willis said.

Firefighters were told the boy’s father was the only adult home at the time.

The boy’s name was not released.
