Fire officials announced they have completed the first phase of the Thunderbird Hotel fire investigation but stressed that much work still remains and that no cause has been determined.
The first phase involved processing fire damage at the hotel, which was destroyed in a spectacular five-alarm blaze on Sept. 2. It is being investigated by Portland Fire & Rescue and the federal ATF National Response Team.
In a news release issued late Saturday, officials said that personnel and heavy equipment and fire apparatus will be no longer at the scene, but they stressed the investigation “will continue for as long as it takes to identify and follow up on all pieces of information that are related to this fire.”
