Tenino’s offense couldn’t be stopped by 2A Washougal and the Beavers notched a 55-28 victory on Friday night here in non-league football action.

Senior quarterback Mac Shaw torched the Panthers’ secondary for 460 yards on 31 of 43 passing and five touchdowns, and got it done on the ground as well with three touchdowns and 71 yards — all against a Washougal squad that had defeated a 3A Hudson’s Bay 50-0 last week.

“Our kids were fired up,” Tenino coach Jeff Zenisek said. “We had a lot to prove. When we played against Raymond (last week) it just wasn’t clicking for us on offense and against Washougal it started to click for us.”

Tenino jumped out early and never looked back, leading 42-12 at halftime. The Beavers also got 191 yards on the ground. Thomas Pier rushed for 62 yards and picked up 95 receiving yards on nine catches, and Devante Harris picked up 58 yards on the ground and exploded for three touchdown passes in the first half and finishing with 12 receptions for 234 yards. Dustin Hammond added 10 catches for 131 yards, and the Beavers finished with 651 yards of total offense.

“We were pretty physical but our speed was really good on both sides of the ball,” Zenisek said. “We changed it up a bit and that helped. We were throwing when they were blitzing early and that backed them up. We did what we had to do.”

The Beavers’ defense forced two fumbles against the Panthers.
