A 70-year-old man died Friday morning after having a medical issue at the Ridgefield Marina and falling into the water, officials said.
Clark County Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response were called to the Ridgefield Marina, 5 N. Mill St., for a potential drowning, according to emergency dispatch logs. Ridgefield police were called to the scene about five minutes later.
The man suffered a medical problem in the houseboat area of the marina and fell off of a dock, said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy, fire district spokesman. The fire district would not release the nature of the medical problem due to health care privacy laws.
The man held onto the dock and was pulled out of the water by neighbors. He lost consciousness before firefighters arrived. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, Dawdy said.
