A 33-year-old Vancouver man suffered a minor injury Tuesday evening after he fell asleep at the wheel and hit a utility pole on Northeast 82nd Avenue in Battle Ground, authorities reported.

The man was driving his dump truck north on Northeast 82nd Avenue near Northeast 276th Street at 6:11 p.m. when he fell asleep and drifted into the left lane, said Sgt. Linda Hayes with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. He over-corrected, hitting a utility pole and causing power lines to snap.

The man drove to an area hospital in his own vehicle for a shoulder injury. His name was not released.
