Vancouver firefighters were able to help two adults and a child escape a third-story fire at the Arnada Pointe Apartments, 4820 N.E. Hazel Dell Ave., on Monday night.
The fire started in a wall next to the front door about 7:30 p.m., said Vancouver fire Capt. Kevin Murray.
The family went to the front door, felt the heat and went out onto a deck. Later, firefighters knocked down the small fire and the family was able to exit.
The Red Cross was helping the family, whose names were not released because of privacy laws.
Cause and damage estimate were not immediately available, Murray said.
