UPDATE: ‘Suspicous device’ removed from Portland City Hall

The Bomb Squad has removed the device and will analyze it to determine if it contains any explosive material.

The area is now clear.

Portland Police discovered a suspicious device about 9:30 a.m. today outside Portland City Hall. The device appeared to be a water bottle, wrapped in black tape, on the corner of Southwest Fourth Avenue and Madison Street, near some newspaper boxes.

The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit is responding to examine the device.

No evacuations are occurring at this time and pedestrian traffic only is affected at Southwest Fourth and Madison.
