Meadow Homes — Share’s remodeled building on Andresen Road used to be a bowling alley, built in the 1970s. When the nonprofit group took on renovating the place as its new headquarters, it faced some tough choices about energy use and efficiency. Contractor RSV Building Solutions worked with Energy Trust of Oregon, which provided incentives to overlay the old roof with modern insulation, then put a new roof over that. That’s expected to save 5,455 therms of natural gas and nearly $5,500 in utility costs annually. The renovated building is designed to achieve LEED silver certification. Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification confirms that a building meets specific standards for energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.
