The members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 40145 are working on projects to earn their Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can attain.

The troop meets twice a month in the basement of Zion Lutheran Church and is led by Theresa Cole.

Girl Scouts Syerrah Wilson-Brown and Kendra Short chose a project to help support the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society in Washougal.

They set up a table on four Sundays at the Stevenson Off-Leash Dog Park in Washougal and took donations. In exchange, the girls gave out dog bones and bottled water to the park patrons. The girls earned $248.81 which they have presented to West Columbia Gorge Humane Society.

Wilson-Brown and Short said the donors helped them earn three leadership awards, and that they had a lot of fun getting to meet and learn about many different kinds of dogs. Many of the dogs were rescue animals, adopted by their owners.

Other members of Troop 40145 are Ellie Klein, Julia Bintz, Kennedy Keller and Natalie Cole.
