A 15-year-old girl was sent to the hospital Tuesday morning after she was hit by a small school bus in Battle Ground, officials said.
The crash was reported around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest Eighth Avenue and Onsdorff Boulevard, about a block east of state Highway 503, according to emergency dispatch logs. It was reportedly raining and dark at the time.
Investigators determined the girl was in the crosswalk when she was struck by the bus at a low speed, Battle Ground police Lt. Roy Butler said. She was sent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with minor injuries as a precaution, Butler said.
The student was treated and released from the hospital by noon, said Gregg Herrington, spokesman for Battle Ground Public Schools.
American Medical Response and Clark County Fire & Rescue also responded.
Names of the bus driver and victim were not released.
Herrington said one student was on the bus at the time of the crash. The bus driver wasn’t injured, and the student, who did not appear to be injured, was picked up by a parent, Herrington said.
Cascade Student Transportation, a private company that provides drivers for Battle Ground schools, is investigating the incident, Herrington said.
The crash is also being investigated by the Battle Ground Police Department and Washington State Patrol, he said.
