The Clark College men’s soccer team wrapped up the NWAACC South Division title with a 6-0 win over South Puget Sound on Saturday in Vancouver.
Victor Garcia and Alicides Thomas each scored two goals, and Borce Atanasov added to his NWAACC-leading total with his 24th goal of the season.
Eduardo Dominguez added a goal for Clark (14-1-2, 11-0-1). Atanasov also had two assists.
James Nielssen recorded the shutout in goal.
By clinching the division, Clark gets a first-round bye in the playoffs and a home playoff match on Nov. 10.
Clark women defeat Lane
LeeAnn Lauritzen scored off an assist from Prairie High grad Tammy Hilgendorf in the 57th minute as the Clark women defeated Lane 1-0.
Battle Ground High grad Marissa Tyler recorded the shutout in goal for the Penguins (5-11-1, 4-9-0).
The Clark soccer teams close out the regular season with a trip to Coos Bay, Ore., on Wednesday to face Southwestern Oregon.
Premo 7th at cross country regional; Mason 17th
The Clark men’s cross country team placed fifth out of six teams at the NWAACC Southern Regional championship at Eugene.
Battle Ground grad Jay Mason was the top Clark men’s finisher, placing 17th overall in 27:30 out of 52 runners. Lane’s Elias Gedyon won in 25:47.
Also scoring for Clark, Union grad Zach Lemberg was 25th (28:12), Columbia River grad Heath Meler was 26th (28:44), Julian Avalos was 32nd (29:59), and Camas grad Tim Miles was 35th (30:33). Cesar Espinoza was 38th (33:50).
The Clark women had just three runners. Camas grad Jackie Premo was seventh overall in 20:35, Union grad Niamah McCarthy was 13th in 21:21, and Camas grad Savannah Cooper was 17th in 22:04.
