UPDATE: Missing Vancouver man found safe in Portland

UPDATE: The Portland Police Bureau reported at 9:13 p.m. that Roger Amiton was found safe by a Portland police officer.

ORIGINAL STORY FOLLOWS:

A Vancouver man was reported missing Friday afternoon to Portland police after he went for a walk in the 2500 block of Southeast 109th Avenue in Portland and didn’t return.

The man, Roger Amiton, 72, reportedly suffers from dementia and his family members said he likely wouldn’t be able to find his way back home to Vancouver, according to a bulletin from the Portland Police Bureau.

Amiton was last seen at 2:30 p.m. Search & Rescue K9 teams are searching the area and working with East Precinct officers and Missing Persons Unit detectives to try and locate Amiton, the bulletin said.

He was last seen wearing a red flannel jacket over a blue polo shirt, khaki pants and brown shoes. He’s 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, has blue eyes and is balding with salt and pepper hair on the sides.
