Visitors to the Venersborg Schoolhouse will find more than 200 different varieties of apples for tasting. The sixth-annual Apple Tasting event includes rare heirloom breeds that trace their history back to the Middle Ages. Tasters can enjoy cidermaking and apple-pie demonstrations, with experts on hand to identify homegrown apples. Visitors are encouraged to bring in five or six apples that they want identified, unpolished with the stems attached.

Presidential theater
Washougal High School presents “44 Plays for 44 Presidents,” a fast-paced look at how 44 presidencies have shaped the United States, with each play ranging in time from mere seconds to five minutes. The production is part of a national festival to present 44 productions of the play throughout the country. And the audience will vote for which version of the 45th play — Obama or Romney — they’d like to see.
