A Vancouver man accused of two home-invasion robberies in 2011, including one in which a woman was bound and beaten, has pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.
Adam C. Lewis pleaded guilty Friday before Clark County Superior Court Judge Dan Stahnke in connection with the first robbery, when he broke into a garage on May 2, 2011, and tried to steal a man’s car. Sentencing was set for Nov. 5.
He faces between about 10 and 14 years in prison for those crimes.
Lewis, 26, still awaits trial on Dec. 10 in connection to a May 5, 2011, robbery in which he’s accused of handcuffing, binding and repeatedly assaulting a woman in her house.
Lewis has already been convicted in August of failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to more than four years in prison.
Should he be convicted of all charges at his December trial relating to the attack of the Vancouver woman, Lewis could face 108 years in prison when taking into account all his cases, said Senior Deputy Prosecutor Alan Harvey.
According to court documents, the string of cases began the morning of May 2, 2011, when Lewis allegedly broke into the garage of a house in the 2100 block of Northeast 161st Place. After being confronted by the resident, Lewis, who had allegedly stolen car keys, got inside a vehicle and tried to escape. The resident tried to stop him and was injured, investigators said.
Three days later, Lewis allegedly broke into a house in the 2300 block of East 27th Street. Armed with a handgun, he bound the female resident with handcuffs, and strapped a leather belt around her torso and arms, according to court documents.
In the next hour, he then allegedly ordered the woman around the house at gunpoint, asking her for money and marijuana. Police said Lewis punched and kicked the woman as she attempted to break free.
When the victim’s husband returned home, he confronted the armed assailant, and the two wrestled for the gun, police said. The husband fired a gunshot in his direction but apparently missed, police said. Meanwhile, the woman ran to a nearby supermarket and asked for help, according to court documents.
Lewis is being held in the Clark County Jail on a no-bail hold.
