Where they stand: At 8-3-1, 17 points, the Winterhawks are third in the U.S. Division behind Tri-City (9-3-1-1, 20 points) and Spokane (9-4-0, 18 points).Rookies on the board: Sixteen-year-old forwards Dominic Turgeon and Keegan Iverson became the most recent rookies to score their first WHL goal during Portland’s 6-1 win over Seattle on Oct. 20. Through only 12 games, 16 different Winterhawks have already scored goals this season.
Stat leaders: Nic Petan (18 points) has three consecutive multi-point games and is one of six Winterhawks with 10 or more points on the season. Ty Rattie (8) leads in goals scored.Canada-Russia series selections: Ty Rattie, Tyler Wotherspoon and Derrick Pouliot have been named to the Team WHL roster for the Nov. 15 game at Victoria, B.C., against the Russian Junior National Team. The Subway Super Series features regional teams of Canadian Hockey League All-Stars competing against the Russian National Junior Team in a six games that are part of the process for selecting the Team Canada roster for the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
