A service day next month will invite volunteers to tackle a variety of outdoor projects at Vancouver’s Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center.

Stewardship Saturday, set for Nov. 10, will help revitalize a composting demonstration site and prepare hiking trails for the winter, according to organizers. Participants of all ages are allowed to take part.

Children younger than 14 must have parental supervision, and those younger than 16 must have parental permission, according to organizers. Participants should come with sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. in Columbia Springs’ SWIFT classroom. The 100-acre education center is at the former Vancouver Trout Hatchery, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway. Work is expected to last until 1 p.m.

Residents can sign up or learn more by contacting volunteer@columbiasprings.org, or 360-882-0936, ext. 230.
