Trevor Jones went four-for-four.

The Mountain View senior became a district tennis champion for the fourth time on Saturday, teaming with Colton Reed to win the Class 3A District IV doubles tournament at Club Green Meadows. Jones and Reed defeated Thunder teammates Tyler Sparling and Marcus Kwon in three sets.

“Trevor Jones entered some pretty elite company,” Mountain View coach Mat Clark said, noting that Jones never lost a district tournament match. Jones won district titles in doubles three times, and was the district singles champion last season.

After dropping the first set of the finals 7-5, Jones and Reed won the next two sets 6-2 and 6-1 to claim the title.

The singles final in the Class 3A district tournament featured Columbia River teammates. Dominik Gorecki defeated Dylan Koester 6-1, 6-2 for the district crown.

Mountain View and Columbia River shared the district tournament team title with 34 points apiece. Clark noted that his Mountain View team advanced all nine of its players to Saturday’s play in the two-day tournament.

The top three finishers in both singles and doubles advace to the regional tournament to be played Thursday and Friday at the Sprinker Recreation Complex in Tacoma. The losers of the third-place matches at district are alternate entries for the regional tournament.

Jason Edgerton of Prairie defeated Trong Nguyen of Fort Vancouver 6-4, 6-4 for third place in 3A singles. In doubles, Lane Cooper and Ian David of Columbia River finished third.

4A boys tennis — Jonathan Ho of Camas won the 4A District 4 singles title, beating Tanner Blake of Union 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.

The 4A doubles final was an all-Union match. Andrew Bagherpour and Jacob Buckley beat Steven Tsai and Alex Chantgavong 6-2, 6-1 in the finals.

The tournament at the Vancouver Tennis Center will conclude with the last consolation match on Monday to determine the seeds for who advances to regionals later in the week.

Union has clinched the district tournament team championship for the fifth year in a row.
