Darya Samiee, Mountain View girls swimming
Mountain View girls swimmer Darya Samiee was selected The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Samiee collected 34 percent of the 511 votes cast by fans to beat out Lauren Rood of Camas girls soccer. Rood had 26 percent.
Samiee won the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle events in a meet with Camas and other North County programs. Her 200 IM time of 2:16.05 was a state-qualifying mark.
Other nominees included Union boys tennis player Jacob Buckley, Union boys golfer Ian Spicer, and Hockinson volleyball player Kelsey Whiles.
Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s blog at www.360preps.com on Monday. Voting starts shortly thereafter at www.facebook.com/360preps and continues until Thursday evening.
