Crash slows I-5 south traffic

At 2:46 p.m. a 19-year-old woman driving a silver Kia Rio was attempting to change lanes from the far left lane to the right lane while a semi truck was trying to change from the right lane to the middle lane, said Trooper Will Finn, spokesman with the Washington State Patrol.

She saw the semi, over-corrected and hit the concrete barrier separating the south and northbound lanes. The Kia rolled over, coming to rest on all four wheels facing west in the left and middle lanes, Finn said. The woman was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.

The lanes were blocked for 20 minutes until a Washington State Department of Transportation unit was able to push the Kia to the right shoulder, Finn said.

The driver was charged with having her wheels off the roadway and for failing to provide insurance.

This story will be updated as we get more information.
