Building your business: This past summer Lutz added an outlet for U-Haul rentals.
Greatest challenge: About half of Lutz’s employees are semi-retired and work part time. His biggest challenge is scheduling around vacations.
What’s ahead: Lutz attended the annual “Do It Best” convention this fall and learned about new products and listened to what others are doing. He said it always energizes him and when he returns he is ready to update his store and set up new displays.
Business philosophy: Lutz said customer service is very important. He said there are many places for people to shop, including larger stores. He feels if he takes care of customers they will return.
A favorite part of the job: Talking to customers and helping them out. He likes the atmosphere of the small-town store.
Year established in Clark County: Lutz Hardware was established in 1950 by Aaron’s grandfather. His father bought the store in 1970 and Aaron purchased the business in 2000.
