An inmate who reportedly attempted to commit suicide at the Clark County Jail on Thursday morning is expected to make a full recovery, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The Vancouver Fire Department and American Medical Response were called to the jail for a reported hanging at 9:53 a.m., according to emergency dispatch logs.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Shane Gardner said a custody officer saw a man who was allegedly trying to hang himself from the second story handrail of a pod with a sheet. He asked for officers to respond and “thwarted” the suicide attempt, Gardner said.
The 27-year-old man’s name is not being released at this time. He was booked into jail in early September on a local warrant, Gardner said.
