League of Women Voters to host debate

Legislative candidates from the 17th, 18th and 49th districts will debate at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Columbia Room at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.

Candidates expected to attend are Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, and his Democratic challenger, Jim Gizzi; Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, and her Democratic challenger, Ralph Schmidt; Republican House candidates Adrian Cortes and Brandon Vick; Senate candidates Annette Cleveland, a Democrat, and Eileen Qutub, a Republican; Rep. Sharon Wylie, D-Vancouver, and her Republican challenger, Debbie Peterson; and Rep. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver, and his Republican challenger, Carolyn Crain.

The event is hosted by the League of Women Voters of Clark County. The audience can submit questions until 6:30 p.m. The forum is expected to last until about 8:15 p.m. CVTV will cover the event.
