Apartments proposed for Cascade Greenhouse site

A plan is in the works to redevelop the site of east Vancouver’s Cascade Greenhouse business into a 154-unit apartment complex, according to the city’s Community and Economic Development Department.

The proposal, submitted by Vancouver-based GG One Inc., owned by Ott Gaither, would transform the 7.4-acre site into a 16-building apartment development with a smaller community center building. It represents a higher-density development than was proposed six years ago by owners of the Northeast 112th Avenue greenhouse grounds. In 2006, owners John and Lori Scheck proposed an 83-lot townhouse development.

The Cascade Greenhouse nursery business and plant store has operated since 1984 on the site, which borders the east side of 112th Avenue midway between Northeast 18th and 28th streets.

The property is adjacent to multi-family housing that is part of the 80-acre Four Seasons mixed-use housing and retail development, which is spread over 80 acres on the southeast quadrant of where Northeast 112th Avenue and 28th Street intersect.
