Leaf-disposal is free in county with a coupon

Clark County residents are encouraged to take advantage of a free fall leaf-disposal program.

Vancouver does not pick up leaves. That’s a chore left to property owners, who are also asked not to rake or blow leaves into the street because they plug stormwater drains.

The free disposal program is available through Dec. 20 to Vancouver and Clark County residents who have a free disposal coupon, according to a city news release.

Only leaves — not other yard debris — may be dropped off as part of the free program.

The coupons are available at many Vancouver city offices, in the October Curbside Recycling newsletter and online at http://cityofvancouver.us/solidwaste.

Leaf coupons are also available at disposal sites: H&H Wood Recyclers, 8401 N.E. 117th Ave., West Van Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old Lower River Road and McFarlane’s Bark, 8806 N.E. 117th Ave.

Residents who use leaves as mulch around trees or in flower gardens may find they save themselves a trip to a drop-off site.
