Camas — The Camas Farmer’s Market celebrated its inaugural Harvest Festival on Sept. 26 in downtown Camas. “The market came alive with the feeling of autumn, complete with scarecrows, hay bales, pumpkins, gourds and cornstalks,” Marilyn Goodman, market spokeswoman, said. “Kids enjoyed tromping through the hay stack looking for special tokens they exchanged for prizes, including cheeseburgers from Burgerville and smoothies from Squeeze and Grind. They also had fun pumpkin bowling, decorating mini pumpkins and getting their faces painted courtesy of Camas Camp ‘n’ Ranch.” Blue ribbon winners in the Cookin’ & Cannin’ the Summer Bounty contest were Laurel Aston for her chocolate chip zucchini bread, Loyce Forsgren for her pickled beets and Tom Gibson for his plum jam. The market will remain open from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 10. To learn more, visit http://www.camasfarmersmarket.org.
