Girls basketball: Columbia River 64, Heritage 31

Marion Lilly scored 18 points and Kim Lowery added 16 as the Chieftains ended a 26-game losing streak with a non-league win over Heritage.

“There were some very happy girls after a rough season last year,” River’s first-year coach Carl Click said. River went 0-20 in 2011-12.

All 16 of Lowery’s points were scored via 3-pointers, including three in the first quarter.

Holli Jo Chose had eight rebounds, six steals and five points for River (1-1).
