Hazel Dell — Ridgefield resident Jody Morris dropped off a table full of much-needed school supplies to a Hazel Dell Elementary School special education classroom last month. The donation, including notebooks, pencils, crayons and more, was made by the Oregon FL Club, a charitable organization where Morris is currently president. The supplies went to teacher Marti Lloid’s class. Morris’ father had worked with learning-challenged students when he taught high school, so Morris was aware of funding difficulties in those classrooms. When her club was looking for a project, Morris remembered how years back, Lloid had brought some of her students to visit Columbia River Mental Health’s Adult Day Health Center, where Morris was then activity director. “We decided that would be a good place to start,” Morris said about donating supplies to the learning support teacher’s class. Hazel Dell Elementary classroom aide Cindy Hudson is also a member of the FL Club. “We’ll maintain contact with them, and if they have other needs, we’ll continue to help them out,” Morris said.
