A former U.S. Marine staff sergeant from Vancouver was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography while stationed in Afghanistan.

Senior U.S. District Judge Robert E. Jones also sentenced Corey Hollis McAdoo to an additional 10 years of supervised release.

Portland police began investigating McAdoo after they received a tip in January 2011 that McAdoo’s girlfriend, Inez Lambert of Portland, had sent videos to McAdoo of her sexually abusing her infant nephew, while McAdoo was deployed at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.

A joint state and federal investigation revealed that the woman also sexually abused two other juvenile nephews at McAdoo’s request while McAdoo watched the abuse live via a Web camera.

The Marine Corps discharged McAdoo and turned him over to the FBI to face federal charges in Oregon.

Lambert was convicted in November 2011 of abusing a 1-year-old and emailing the footage to McAdoo, and she started serving a 25-year state sentence for abuse of the boys.

When McAdoo is released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender. He will be prohibited from associating with minors and being in places where children congregate. He will be restricted in where he can live and in use of digital devices. He also will be required to participate in mental health and sex offender treatment programs.
