PHOENIX (AP) — A former Vancouver woman whose toddler was found dead in an east Mesa, Ariz., mobile home three months ago has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse.
Mesa police say 22-year-old Sierra Pitt’s two children were found with her in an excessively hot mobile home with a broken air conditioner on Aug. 25.
Police say a 2-year-old child was found dead and a 14-month-old boy was malnourished, dehydrated and had bruises on his back and legs.
The gender of the 2-year-old child isn’t immediately clear in court documents.
Police say a decision on whether to seek murder charges in the 2-year-old’s death will be based on the outcome of an autopsy by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Arizona Republic says the autopsy hasn’t been completed yet.
