A three-car crash snarled southbound traffic on Interstate 205 and other local roads Thursday morning.
The crash was reported midspan in the left southbound lane of the Glenn Jackson Bridge around 7 a.m. and was cleared just before 9 a.m.
Portland police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson said there were no injuries reported in the crash, but all three cars had to be towed from the scene.
WSDOT spokeswoman Abbi Russell said the backup caused a few secondary collisions, which exacerbated the problems.
“It really shows how interconnected our system is,” she said.
The crash caused state Highways 500 and 14 to backup for miles around I-205.
Russell said WSDOT posted traffic signs warning about the backup starting at 7 a.m. She said many people took Interstate 5 instead of 205, causing I-5 to be backed up past Main Street.
