Tyler Burton, the Vancouver man seriously injured late last month in Chico, Calif., remained in critical condition Monday.

Burton, 21, was knocked to the pavement after being punched in the face, according to a Chico Police Department bulletin. He was unconscious and sent to a hospital with “significant head trauma,” according to the release.

Burton, a 2010 graduate of Mountain View High School, was listed in critical condition on Monday at Enloe Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.

He attends Shasta College in Redding, Calif., where he is in the football team’s starting lineup.

A suspect in the case, identified as Andres Rodriguez, 20, was later booked into the Butte County Jail in Oroville, Calif., on suspicion of assault, Chico police said.
