Maintenance work on a natural gas pipeline will close a section of the White Salmon River near the former Northwestern Lake. The work will periodically close the river for four nonconsecutive days in late November and December, according to Williams Northwest Pipeline, which owns the line.
The company announced closures to take place within the following windows:
• One day between Nov. 29 and Dec. 2.
• One day between Dec. 6 and Dec. 11.
• One day between Dec. 11 and Dec. 16.
• One day between Dec. 20 and Dec. 26.
The closure will affect a short stretch where a gas pipeline crosses the river, about a quarter-mile upstream of Northwestern Park, according to Williams Northwest. Crews plan to replace a section of pipeline that was exposed when the breaching of Condit Dam drained Northwestern Lake last year.
In its place will go a 120-foot-long aerial pipeline girder span. Once that’s installed, crews will remove the old section of pipeline from the river, according to Williams Northwest.
