A two-car crash blocked several southbound lanes of Interstate 5 on Tuesday morning.
The crash was reported just before 8 a.m., according to emergency dispatch logs.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Trooper Will Finn said a PT Cruiser ran into the back of a UPS truck in the left southbound lane. Firefighters arrived and blocked two additional lanes, forcing commuters to get by on the far right lane, Finn said.
The driver of the PT Cruiser, Wendy Dasilva, 38, was not injured even though her car went under the rear of the UPS truck driven by Douglas Whited, 47, of Oregon, Finn said.
“It was a pretty good crash but she didn’t get hurt,” he said.
The road was cleared by 8:17 a.m.
Charges are pending.
The PT Cruiser was towed from the scene.
Trooper Finn said it wasn’t the only crash during the morning commute.
There were also three non-injury crashes on state Highway 500, he said. One was an abandoned car, one was a rear-end crash and one happened when a woman was merging onto Highway 500 from 112th Street. The woman hit the brakes, over-corrected and spun into the jersey barrier, Finn said.
