Free tax workshop: The Vancouver office of the Washington State Department of Revenue is hosting a free workshop for new and small-business owners, 1 to 4 p.m. at 8008 N.E. Participants will learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. All receive a workbook and a reference guide to Department of Revenue rules. Volunteers needed for tax preparation: AARP Tax-Aide is seeking volunteers to assist with tax preparation in Clark County. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed. Volunteers must have basic computer skills and become proficient in tax return preparation software, as all returns are filed electronically. Training takes place in January and from Feb. 1 through April 15. Volunteers will help clients one-on-one at various tax sites across Clark County.
