A 28-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle east of Interstate 5 near Ridgefield, said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy with Clark County Fire & Rescue.

The man was southbound on Northeast 10th Avenue near the 25300 block at about 3:45 p.m. when the accident occurred.

There are indications that the man, whose name was not released, was driving on the shoulder as he tried to pass other traffic on the right.

He lost control of the motorcycle and crashed through several mailboxes and roadside markers, Dawdy said.

The man, described as seriously injured, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Clark County Fire & Rescue and deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded.

As far as a public-safety message goes, passing on the right is illegal because it’s dangerous, Dawdy said.
