A 33-year-old pedestrian was struck by a motorist Wednesday night when he attempted to cross Highway 99 in Hazel Dell.

Nathan Webster of Vancouver was struck at 8:09 p.m. in the 7700 block of Highway 99, said Sgt. Alex Schoening of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. He was going to lunch at Burger King and works at Fred Meyer.

Webster was in the emergency room at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center at The Columbian’s press time. His injuries appeared to be serious but not life-threatening, Schoening said.

Webster was listed in serious condition Thursday morning, hospital spokesman Ken Cole said.

Susan Miller, 68, of Vancouver was northbound in a 2010 Ford Fusion and told deputies that Webster came out of nowhere. She was cooperative, was not impaired and was not speeding, Schoening said.
