On Friday night at Kiggins Bowl, the public address announcer celebrated the successful fall sports season at Columbia River.

And even though I wasn’t there — I haven’t quite figured out how to be at two places at the same time — I’m sure there was something similar going on over at Doc Harris Stadium, celebrating the fall that Camas has had.

But who had the better fall?

Camas in the 4A Greater St. Helens League, or Columbia River in the 3A GSHL?

Well, you be the judge.

We’ll start first with the Papermakers.

Football: League champions, advanced to state first round.

Volleyball: District champions, bi-district runner-ups, advanced to state.

Girls soccer: League co-champions, district runner-ups, advanced to state.

Boys cross country: District champions, third at bi-district, ninth at state.

Girls cross country: District, bi-district and state champions.

Girls swimming: District champions.

Boys golf: District runner-ups.

Boys tennis: District runner-ups.

And now for Columbia River.

Football: League champions, advanced to first round of state.

Volleyball: District runners-up, bi-district champions, advanced to state.

Girls soccer: League champions, advanced to state.

Boys cross country: District and bi-district champions, eighth at state.

Girls cross country: District runners-up, fifth at bi-district, 16th at state.

Girls swimming: District champions.

Boys golf: Third at district.

Boys tennis: Co-district champions.

Those are impressive résumés. Can’t decide whose is better?

Well, some of these stories are still being written.

So let’s get to this week’s events.
