The Vancouver Volcanoes will be presented with their 2011 International Basketball League championship rings today before the start of their game against the Bellingham Slam.
The game tips off at 7:10 p.m. at O’Connell Sports Complex at Clark College.
Vancouver and Bellingham each leads its division. The Volcanoes are 7-3 this season; the Slam are 9-1.
The Volcanoes also are at Clark College at 7 p.m. Saturday against the Japan-based Nippon Tornadoes.Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $3 for ages 8-18, and free for 7 and younger.
Learn to row on Saturday
Vancouver Lake Crew will hold introduction-to-rowing sessions on Saturday as part of U.S. Rowing’s 11th annual Learn to Row Day.
The lessons are free. They begin every hour starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m.The Vancouver Lake Crew Boathouse is at 8612 N.W. Erwin O. Rieger Memorial Highway, at the southwestern corner of Vancouver Lake.
Starlight Run
The Starlight Run, a 5-kilometer race prior to the Rose Festival Starlight Parade in downtown Portland, begins at 7:45 p.m. Saturday. The start/finish area is at the Lincoln High School track, across the street from Jeld-Wen Field in southwest Portland.
Registration on the day of the race costs $20. A costume contest will be held at 7 p.m.Learn more at http://www.starlightrun.com.
Vipers football at home
Clark County Vipers host the Springfield Buzzards in a Pacific Football League game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver. It is the last scheduled home game this season for the Vipers.Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $4 for students with a valid ID, and free for ages 12 and younger.
Timbers reserves host L.A.
The Portland Timbers host the L.A. Galaxy in a MLS Reserves match at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jeld-Wen Field. Tickets cost $10, and seating is general admission. The Timbers are 2-2 in Reserve matches. Brent Richards from Camas is likely to see action for Portland.
Special Olympians at state meet
Many athletes from Clark County will participate Saturday and Sunday in the Special Olympics of Washington Summer Games.
The competition at Joint Base Lewis McChord will bring together athletes with intellectual disabilities along with Unified Partners who assist in the sports. This event includes track and field, swimming, soccer, cycling and power lifting and will involve about 2,500 athletes from around the state who qualified at regional tournaments.
