Two Clark County men were seriously injured early Tuesday in an ATV crash in Clatsop County, Ore., officials said.

Deputies with the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the crash on the Nicolai Mainline, a logging road near Westport, Ore., around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Two men were riding in a two-seat ATV, lost control and crashed into a ditch, according to a Clatsop sheriff’s news release. Both men were seriously injured.

Driver Leroy Cormican, 41, of Battle Ground, was transported by Life Flight to OHSU Hospital, where he was in serious condition Tuesday night. Cory J. Johnson, 22, of Woodland, was sent to Columbia Memorial Hospital and then by Life Flight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. He was in fair condition Tuesday night.

The men were not using safety restraints or helmets, the release said.

Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
